Karbala Electricity Station

Karbala Electricity Station

Our company was awarded a contract in 2011 to support the implementation of the Karbala Electricity Station in Karbala, Iraq. The project involved the delivery of key engineering and execution services aimed at enhancing power generation capacity and ensuring reliable long-term operation. EDK’s role covered both the development and operational support phases of the station, contributing to its continued performance and stability.

The scope of work included electrical station design, supply and installation of critical equipment, and the construction of underground gas pipelines serving the turbine systems. The project also encompassed station commissioning and launch activities, followed by post-launch employee training to support safe and efficient operations. In addition, EDK provided operation and maintenance support after commissioning, ensuring sustained performance and compliance with operational standards.

The Karbala Electricity Station remains active to this day, with a total thermal power generation capacity of 288 MW. The project continues to contribute to regional power supply, operational reliability, and the development of local technical capabilities, reflecting EDK’s long-term commitment to delivering dependable energy infrastructure.
